Regulations for the Health Chest

The regulations were passed by the board of Samskipnaden i Volda in a meeting on 26 January 1999, and revised on 16 August 2004.

§1     Every student who has a valid membership in SiVolda and children under the age of 16, who the student supports and lives with, has the right to claim reimbursement of deductibles that are paid in connection with disease.

The Health Chest refunds expenses when the total amount of these is more than 50% of the deductibles in the Norwegian National Insurance Scheme per year per member.

The arrangement follows the calendar year, and refunds are paid per semester. If the accumulated deductibles per 15 June do not exceed 50% of the deductibles in the Norwegian National Insurance Scheme, any possible refund depends on the accumulated deductibles during the autumn semester. Claims for refunds and the necessary documentation must be presented by 15 January for the autumn semester and 30 June for the spring semester.

§2     The Health Chest is funded through the semester fee. Depositions to the Health Chest must be done in connection with the managing of the budget. Samskipnaden is responsible for any possible operating deficit in the Health Chest.

§3     The Health Chest covers

  • Deductibles for consultations/treatments with a general practitioner or a specialist.
  • Deductibles for medicines bought on “blue prescription”.
  • Deductibles for travel expenses added to the receipt card in connection with travels to and from consultations/treatments.

§4     The Health Chest does not cover

  • Expenses for consultations/treatments abroad.
  • Deductibles for consultations/treatments outside the study year; during the period 15 June – 15 August.
  • Expenses and deductibles for treatments by dentists, physical therapists, chiropractors and homeopaths.
  • Purchases of alternative medicine.
  • Expenses for acupuncture treatments and health certificates.

§5     When applying for reimbursement from the Health Chest, the following documentation must be presented

  • A valid student card.
  • Documentation that you are the legal parent when the application applies to your child or children.
  • The receipt card from the Norwegian National Insurance Scheme.

§6     These regulations apply from 16 August 2004.
